Shrubs

Arrowwood Viburnum – A multi-stemmed, rounded shrub with creamy white late spring or early summer flowers. Leaves are lustrous, dark green in summer changing to yellow to glossy red and reddish- purple in the fall. Flowers are followed by ½” blue-black berries that ripen in early fall. This shrub provides food, cover, and nesting sites for birds, and larval food for butterflies and moths. Grows 6′-15 high with a comparable spread. Prefers well-drained soils and full sun to partial shade.

Nannyberry Viburnum – Nannyberry is a native, suckering shrub and is adaptable to a wide range of sites.  Creamy white flowers in spring are showy as are the fruits in the fall which are edible. Fall color is orange to reds.

Sweet Mockorange – An old favorite , known for its sweet scent. Zones 4-8. LIkes sun to part sun and moist, well drained soil. Can grow to 10-12′.

American Cranberrybush Viburnum – Excellent plant for screening and informal hedging. 8-12′. Lustrous medium to dark green changing to yellow through red-purple in fall.
